Relevant Dinner in
the Parking Lot
To raise additional funds for R&R’s
supported agencies and to promote awareness of mental health issues,
the board of All Things Right and Relevant sponsors an “all
you can eat” community
dinner on the third Thursday each September. The “Relevant
Dinner” features family-friendly live musical entertainment
and a silent auction, and a children's
table.
In the festively decorated parking
lot in front of R&R at the Davis Manor Shopping Center, 1640
East 8th St. Davis, people stroll from display table to table and
choose what they want to eat. Umbrella tables and chairs are supplied
for diners.
The Relevant Dinner tradition began
in 2003. In 2006 the dinner was held Sept 21, serving food from
5-8 p.m.“Frankie & the Fabletones” performed Do-Wop favorites and Music
Matt also entertained the crowd.
All proceeds from Relevant Dinners
go to the 10 Mental Health agencies in Yolo County given supplemental
funding by R&R through its board, Friends of Allied Non-Profits
(FAN).
Yolo County has a wealth of premier
restaurants and catering businesses. The Relevant Dinner gives
them a chanceto promote their specialties for taste testing. Donors
are invited to supply promotional materials such as business cards,
menus and brochures.
R&R promotes donor businesses through advertising and public
relations before, during and after the Relevant Dinner.
We urge you to patronize the businesses that provided food in 2006.

SUIT
UP FOR SUCCESS PROGRAM
Short Term Emergency Aid
Committee (STEAC) works in partnership with All
Things Right and Relevant (R&R).
Trained volunteer “personal shoppers” meet clients
by appointment at R&R to select clothing for job interviews.
To qualify,
clients must be referred to Suit Up for Success by social service
agencies.
How you can help
- Donate items to the STEAC consignment account.
Take them to R&R. Items may
be left during business hours (Tues.-Sat. 10-6). To make sure space
is available to receive your donation it is important to phone
the store’s office before
you come (530 759-9648 ext. 2). Bring items through the Thrift
Shop to the office donations area. Inform consignment room staff
that your donation is for the STEAC Suit Up account. Donations
for Suit Up should meet the same criteria as items consigned at
R&R
but donors do not have to fill out a consignment form. Clothing
must be on hangers. Your donated items do not necessarily have
to be suitable for job seekers; they are put on sale to the public
at All Things Right and Relevant Consignment Store.
Proceeds from
their sale are posted to the STEAC account to pay for clothing
and accessories chosen at R&R by the client with help of his/her
personal shopper.
To volunteer to train and serve as
a personal shopper, contact STEAC at (530) 758-8435.
How Suit Up for Success Works
- Clients call the STEAC office at (530) 758-8435 to make an
appointment. Each meets his or her personal shopper at R&R
at the scheduled date and time.
- After their initial interview, each client will receive up
to three outfits up front, depending on cost. They can
also receive additional (up to three) outfits if they return
with a pay stub within three months of their initial Suit Up
appointment.
Program Results
- Katy Zane, Interim Director of STEAC, reports
that as of 2/1/07 over 200 clients have been helped through
Suit Up.
- Surveys indicate that over 70% of the clients
got jobs after their Suit Up appointment.
- Success is attributed to the
“personal touch” of the program, with volunteers
spending an hour with each client
helping build their confidence and self-image.

FASHION SHOWS
 |
All Things
Right and Relevant staff and volunteers will work with
you to schedule and present a free fashion show of R&R’s
stylish, affordable fashions and accessories. Your
group may provide the models if you like, and from past
experience we know that models often buy the clothes they
wear in the show. If you prefer, R&R will supply models.
Among the local organizations
which have enjoyed fashion shows from All Things Right
and Relevant are the Yolo County Medical Society Alliance,
University Farm Circle and the Davis Senior Center. If
you are interested in hosting an R&R fashion show,
please call Dawn Farrand, floor supervisor, at 759-9648
ext.1 for more information. |
